High Courts Order to District Admin : Not To change Aurangabad Name Untill Final Verdict

In a significant development, the Bombay High Court has issued directives to the Revenue and other related Departments to refrain from changing the name of Aurangabad district until further orders. The district administration has received a copy of the court's orders, prompting District Collector Astik Kumar Pandey to issue instructions to department heads to ensure compliance.

The court's intervention comes in response to a pending petition (Writ Petition No. 3881/2023) regarding the proposed renaming of Aurangabad district to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The petitioner highlighted that while the objections against the name change are being heard in court, the Revenue and other related Departments have been proceeding with the process of altering the names of their respective offices.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining the status quo during the ongoing legal proceedings, the High Court's directive seeks to prevent any premature changes in the name of the district. District Collector Astik Kumar Pandey, in accordance with the court's orders, has emphasized that all revenue offices must continue using the name "Aurangabad" until further notice.

The court's decision underscores the need for proper adherence to the legal process and ensures that no irreversible changes are made before a final verdict is reached on the matter. The hearing on the objections against the renaming of Aurangabad district has been scheduled to continue, with the next session set for a later date.

The order serves as a temporary reprieve for those who have voiced concerns and objections to the proposed name change. It remains to be seen how the court proceedings will unfold and what final decision will be reached regarding the renaming of Aurangabad district.
