Aurangabad boxer Shrushti Sathe not only made the country proud but also Aurangabad by winning Gold Medal (63kg) in the 2022 ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships held in Amman, Jordan, on Sunday.
Shrushti Sachin Sathe was up against Nursulu Suienaly of Kazakhstan who had no answer for the boxer's reflexes and strong punches. Shrushti was relentlessly landing accurate punches in the second round and as a result of that, the referee stopped the contest in the second round and announced shrushti as Winner of round.
Shrushti is among Six Indian junior boxers, including Vini, Yakshika and Vidhi who registered contrasting wins to claim gold medals in their respective weight categories at the 2022 ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships.
In the semi-finals of the Asian Championships held in Amman on Sunday, Shrushti Sathe defeated Jordan by 5/0 points in the 63 kg weight category. She then rained powerful punches on his Kazakhstani opponent in the final and bagged the gold medal in just two rounds.
The Aurangabadi boxer had also won gold medals in Raigad in 2020 and Sangli last year. Upon this, she was selected in test of the Indian team for the Asian Championships. Where She had impressed in the test and secured a place in the Indian team.
Srushti Sathe has achieved success on the strength of tremendous aggression, strong will to win and confidence. Her future is bright. She is expected to do even better in the upcoming international competition, said Sunny Gehlot, the coach of Srishti.
