As per the orders by The State Election Commission (SEC), the AMC has almost completed the formation of prabhags for the upcoming 2022 election. The draft was to be submitted by 18 Nov but due to certain reasons, it was delayed. The AMC admin is currently out of the city so the team requested the Election Commission for 10 more days to complete the task and plans on submitting it before the span ends.
The AMC will form 126 wards in total instead of 115, due to the gradually rising population of the city. These wards shall further be divided into 42 prabhags where each of them will have 3 Corporators. A set 50% reservation is for the women candidates.
Elections are expected to be held in March/April 2022. The SEC has ordered the marking of the prabhags from North to South in a zigzag pattern. So, the prabhags will start from the Harsul area and end at the Satara Nakshatrawadi area.
